Garden Tour

With the amazing weather we've been having, I got a little excited about flowers.  I've made a couple few stops to the greenhouses around here and have made more than one purchase.  DJ is thrilled.  I just know he is!

I thought I'd show you some pictures of what I have so far.  Don't get too excited, I only snapped a couple pictures so far.  As more pop up/I think of it, I'll post more.

So pull on your boots and let's go!
Tassel Salmon Pink Fuscia
Not real sure what these are, but I thought they were pretty cool.  I transplanted them into this pot since it was bigger than what it was in.  Maybe it will make it into its forever home sometime this year.  (Or with my gardening skills, this is it's forever home and forever isn't very long for flowers around the SHITMON)

I'll have to look on the tags again to see what these are all called... yeah, I'm on top of it.

My original idea was to put these in two different glass jars.  Turns out my jars weren't as big as I had thought, so I found this old pan and stuck 'em in there.  We'll see how long these make it.  It's my first attempt at a terrarium, so I'm not expecting great things for these poor suckers.

Alright, that is all so far.  Next time will be better.  If everything lives until then......

Garage Blankey

Long ago, in a far far off place, I told MS if she came up and helped me, we could get a quilt front done for her in a weekend.  Yes, I have to bribe her to come visit.  She came up and I met her at the fabric store (it was too intimidating for her to do it on her own).  We spent forever at least an hour in there before I told her to get enough for two and we can figure it out later!  We head home and that Friday was spent drinking.  I'm guessing.  I really don't remember what we did that night, but I know we didn't work on the quilt.

The next morning, we woke up early before noon and got to work.  I think DJ made us breakfast.  He likes to do that for MS.  Mmm Bacon.  I showed her how to cut and said I have to run into work I'll be back.  She text me while I was in there saying she was terrible and was done.  I told her to start ironing the fabric.  I got home and she had enough ironed that I could get started.  I started sewing while she ironed and we got it done by lunch.  Okay, maybe it was a late lunch, as in most restaurants weren't serving at 2:30pm so we spent an hour trying to figure out where to go.  I tell her I'll work on the back later, so she leaves shortly after our lunch.
This is the quilt front, not quite finished, but you get the idea of what it will look like!
Fast forward...  whoa that was a little to far!  Rewind...  There we go

DJ brought his work bag home and threw it on the bed.  Of course, I had since cleaned the guest room and moved MS's quilt.  HAHAHAHA  Who am I kidding.  It was still there.

Fast forward a weeeee lil bit... I go to work on the quilt, or make room to start working on another one, I don't really recall why, but I started clearing off the bed.  I threw DJ's bag on the floor.  And what do ya know, there is grease on the quilt.  OOOOOOHHHH NOOOOO!!  Upon instinct I try to rub if off, only to realize I'm most likely only making the problem worse.  So I tell DJ.  He tells me to rub something (I don't recall now what exactly that was...) on it and wash it and it'll be fine.  Well, if it wasn't on the white part, it probably would have been fine.  But of course, it was on the white part, so I had to tell MS.  I tried to be cheery and tell her we could give it to BM and it could be Superman's garage blankey.  She wasn't thrilled.  But I think she's over it.

Until she reads this.

Smart Phone

I have nothing to write about.  Again.  I have decided I need to get a smart phone.  Okay.  I have one.  It's just  not activated.  This means I can't use most features on it, unless I'm around somewhere with free wireless internet.  I think of so many topics to write about through the days/evenings, but when I get to a computer to write a post, nothing.  It's slipped away to Never Never Land.

If I would just have a smart phone, I could start a blog when I think of it, just enough so I can remember what I was going to write about when I get back to an actual computer.

Ahh... that would be the life.

Oh Daddio!!!!

Fashion Statement

The other day I had given up on DJ to come home, so I decided to go do chores.  I text him what I was doing once I got to the barn.  He said okay, come pick me up at so and so's farm when you're done.  OOOOOOOoookay, be there shortly.

I had three dogs with me, so when I get there he said oh, well let me go get UL and he can take the side by side back out to where the guys are.  I said I'll ride along.  And then I got out of the vehicle.

He said wow.  You've really got quite the fashion statement going on.  Oh yeah.  I knew.

I had on my sunglasses (bright pink and orange, $1 from Target), a gray PCI hooded sweatshirt, pink Victoria's Secret PINK capris, and brown "cow-person" boots.

I really should have had him take a picture of me, so he could set it on his nightstand, looking my best.  Anyway, we get back to where they're working and good 'ol UL didn't know what to think of my get up.  All I could say was my pony doesn't care what I look like as long as I feed him!!

I'm already planning my outfit for the next time I have to go pick him up somewhere.

Whoops

Awhile back (a couple weeks??) we loaded up in our neighbors truck and headed to a benefit auction.  DJ told a couple of the ladies spearheading it that we would come up, never mind the two hour drive.  So up we went.

It was a nice drive and we took the back roads instead of the interstates so we could see more of the countryside.  After a pit stop, we finally found the small town we had been aiming for.

We hopped out of the truck and right beside the hall was a bar.  We skipped the bar.  Just kidding.  If you fell for that, obviously you don't know us.  We decided to check it out since we were about the 7th vehicle parked.  We went in and it was an old saloon style bar.  It was long and skinny with an old wood floor.  We had a drink and headed to the big ordeal.

We walked in and got our auction number and talked to the ladies DJ knew.  We went through the food line and had potato soup, veggies, salads, and bread sticks and cupcakes and cookies for dessert.  We finished eating and went and scouted both the live auction and the silent auction items.

An hour or so after it was supposed to start, the live auction started.  And then I started bidding.  I had set my limits on my items beforehand, so even though DJ was telling me to stop bidding, I kept going.  Until I hit my limit.  And then I won this:

My awesome barn door painting.

I don't think DJ was real impressed.  I may or may not have bought something else as well, but I'll save that for another post.

I wasn't sure what I was going to do with it, but that didn't stop me from bidding!  It's actually really heavy.  Around 30 pounds is what the artist told us.  The guys were worried about it flying out the back of the truck on the way home, but that wasn't a problem!!  Right now I have it on my side table.  Maybe someday it will get hung, but that sounds like a lot of work!

Also, the little bronze thing in the corner, that's a spittoon.  That DJ had to have at an auction last year.  Maybe we should quit going to auctions?!

Hold Me To It

I'm going running today.

I am.

Really.

Okay, now I have to since I've told you.  I just needed to be held accountable!

A nap sounds so much better though!!  Good thing I have a few hours to talk myself into this being fun-- ha.  Lies.
