Newest Addition

While I'm still hoping Francis surfaces, I felt sorry for Floyd being alone. As I said in my last post, I started looking for a new peahen. I had a lot of leads, but most wouldn't get back to me with answers.
On Friday I found an ad that was located within an hour drive. On Saturday, Bonnie came home to the ranch.
Her and Floyd have a lot in common, as both their significant others flew away. Bonnie's Clyde had been missing for awhile so their owner decided to find her a new home.
Despite reading the proper way to introduce peafowl to one another, I put them together within the first hour we were back.
She checked everything out and waltzed right into his kennel like she owned the joint. Sorry Floyd, but I don't think you'll be wearing the pants in this relationship.

Francis Update

There's still no sign of Francis.  I've started looking for a new peahen for Floyd.  I've found a few options.  Now if anyone will get back to me...

#bringfrancishome

When I last blogged, Francis was MIA and Floyd was home.

A week ago today, Ma and Pa called and asked if we wanted to meet them for Mexican.  Well, duh.  Did you even have to ask!?  If margaritas are involved, just tell us when and where!!  Dan was in the car and I was walking to it when he yelled out, "Grab some peahen feed."

"Uhh, come again?"

"Dad thinks she's over at his house."

<insert happy dance>

I grab some feed and we take off to his parents.  We pull in and I ask how in the world we're ever going to find her with all the trees.  And then I see her.  Hanging out in a tall-ass tree.

Hmm... how are we ever going to get her down?  We decide that since Josie is there, she's not coming down any time soon.  We head to eat and will check on her when we get done.

Fast forward a few margaritas and we're back to check on her.  She's still there.  Looking pretty content.  Clear up in the tree.

We decide to let her hang out for the night and I'll head over first thing in the morning to try to bribe her home.

I imagine that's when she flipped me off and said good luck sucker.

I head over on Saturday morning and don't hear or see her.  I start wandering around the trees blasting a mating call from my phone.  That idea still doesn't work.

No one we've talked to has seen or heard her since.

I'm hoping we receive another phone call tonight with a spotting!! :)

Floyd got moved to his new home last weekend.  He can now peck around in the grass and see the light of day and let the wind blow through his feathers.  I don't think he likes it.  I think he's more of the indoors type of guy...

I'm hoping he'll call Francis back, but so far no luck.
