Week Recap

I really need to blog from home one of these days so I can get pictures added to some posts.

This week has been full of rain and trips to the local muffler shop for us.

I woke up one morning to rain pounding the windows.  I looked at the radar and it was pretty much pure red.  I zoomed out and decided it was sticking around awhile, so I put a pillow over my head.  LR text me just then saying she and the cat were scared.  We chatted a bit and then I went back to sleep until my alarm went off.  I got up and looked out the window and discovered one of our trees in our windbreak had broken.  I was hesitant to go look at the porch.  Since I didn't think the storm was going to hit us I hadn't moved anything out of the wind.  Surprisingly, nothing had moved.

Three of our five vehicles had to be taken to the muffler shop for various reasons.  Flat tire, new muffler, something was plugged, a/c, who really knows what else.

Wednesday we I decided to road trip a couple hours for stall fronts for the barn.  DJ was almost impressed!!  Either he thought they were a pretty good deal or he doesn't trust me pulling a trailer, cuz he went with me.  We stopped at a little bar on the way home and had their pizza.  Last time we stopped there, RAGBRAI was going through town so the place was a mad house.  This time it was almost as crazy!  We stuffed ourselves and headed home.

We've gotten over two inches of rain (that's only from when I actually remember to look...) this week and my flowers are loving it.  They are not so much loving the wind that tends to come with the rain.

Looks like the weekend is full of rain too, so maybe I'll get something accomplished inside??

Have a great weekend!

Marley in the Making

Have you ever read the book, or even seen the movie, Marley and Me?  It's a true story based on the author's dog.  He's kind of a hellion.

I think he's back.  This time his name is MC.

He's managed to break two kennel bottoms.  He's ate a couple remotes-- good thing we didn't watch that TV much anyway!  He's ripped up a few blankets.  And working on a mattress.  He's a complete bully to other dogs; he often gets in trouble for dragging his older brother around by the neck/collar.  He opens the door, but doesn't close it (this may have come from watching DJ do the same thing).  I haven't been able to find my flip flop for a long, long time.  He barks at children.  He doesn't like people.  I think his favorite activity is trying to knock me over.  He thinks the basement is the perfect place to do his doo-doo-dees.

And then he transforms into the biggest cuddle bug.  With a face that can melt even the coldest of hearts.

Aww we love the big ol lug.

At the end of the movie they have to put Marley down and bury him.  I'm already dreading that day!  Until then, I guess I'll just keep cleaning up his messes.

Do You Believe in Laugh After Love

That was the text I got from LR the other day.  I thought I just had my own little personal Cher Baby singing to me.  And then LR asks if I want to go see Cher.  Being the cheapass that I am, I said, "Ain't they expensive?"  She said no.  And then mentioned the little fact that she had tickets and no one to go with her.  Hmm... I dont know, I had some pretty exciting plans of looking up races for the boss and me... Boom. Instant plans.  Let's go.

Problem #1.  What does a bum like myself wear to Cher?  I do not currently own a pair of hot pants, but I think I may need to invest so I have a pair ready for nights like this.

Problem #2.  I suggested meeting and going from there together.  Perfect.  I take off and take the back roads because I know where I'm going.  Rigggghhhtt...  Note to Self: Road numbers don't necessarily go in order.  I turned around thinking I missed it because I was gauking/jammin out.  I get back to the original street and realized I had not missed it.  Apparently the two roads don't cross, so I hop on a random (curvy) road and keep truckin.  I try pulling up directions online, but it won't load.  I try looking it up on my navigation app, it tries taking me to a store an hour and a half away.  I'm on my own.  If only I had my old Rand McNally... After what seemed like forever, I reached the otherside of the ghetto and our meeting point.

Problem #3.  How do we get there?  Go straight!  We eventually found it.  So much for going out to eat.  Mac and Don's Steakhouse it was.

We finally get parked and walk into the show.  I'm pretty sure we were the youngest ones there.  By a long shot.  Cyndi Lauper opened for Cher.  My oh my.  My eyes saw things they can never unsee again...

Onto Cher.  What a show.  Had I been a fan and known half her songs, it probably would have been awesome.  However, I am not and did not.  LR knew a few more than I do, but there were a couple few we had no idea on.  If you get the chance, go.  It was something else, unlike any concert I'd seen before.  I hope I'm in that good of shape by the time I'm 68!!

Thanks for taking me, LR!  We can add it to our books of random nights!! :)

There Goes Another

Hold up, it's June.  What the heck?!  That's crazy talk.

I spent Friday shuffling horses around.  My tub is now at OS's with one of hers-- I think that means we are one step closer to actually riding said horses!!  Now to find a free weekend...

We've been having some crazy weather here the past few days.  It'll drop 10+ degrees in a minute or two, pour like crazy for about ten minutes, clear up, and the temp goes right back up as fast as it fell.  One side of my yard got watered, the other was dry.

The barn is supposed to be going up this week-- whoop whoop!!!  So exciting!!  And I think we're getting our mousers this week(end) as well.  Oh, and I'm hoping when I get home, the A/C is fixed.  There's a reason this girl wasn't born back in the ol' prairie days!!

DJ has big plans to tile around the house this week and then I'll finally be able to do some much needed landscaping around the house.  Hopefully this also fixes the basement window from leaking during downpours.

Have a great week!!!!
